Be prepared for a disappointment
Be prepared for a disappointment. We had a scheduled induction planned months in advance at this hospital, and a week before hand were given a time of 6:30 am. We arrived to the hospital at 6:20 that morning to find out that they were full and we had been bumped. That is not the part that is disappointing, as that alone is normal and I completely understand. What was disappointing was the "Head Nurse" telling us we were rescheduled for THREE DAYS later. The best part of inducing is that you can schedule time off from work, and have your friends and family make travel plans accordingly. Now I have to explain to them when they arrive at the airport that we have to wait 3 days which coincidentally will be when most of them have been home for a day. Oh, but wait it keeps getting better. They told us "sorry" for the inconvenience and that they did "TRY" to call us at 5:30 that morning (50 minutes earlier than when we arrived) to let us know they were full. I asked to be placed on standby, or could we have a spot the next day at which case they said they were full. Hey how about some consistency and bump someone on the next day to make room for us. Maybe they didn't like my insurance provider (United Healthcare), maybe they didn't like us because our clothes, or maybe this was just an honest mistake, but they have ruined this birthing experience as now a majority of our friends and family will not get to be there for it. Thanks North Central Baptist...you know how to treat people (poorly).
