Be prepared for a disappointment
Be prepared for a disappointment. We had a scheduled induction planned months in advance at this hospital, and a week before hand were given a time of 6:30 am. We arrived to the hospital at 6:20 that morning to find out that they were full and we had been bumped. That is not the part that is disappointing, as that alone is normal and I completely understand. What was disappointing was the "Head Nurse" telling us we were rescheduled for THREE DAYS later. The best part of inducing is that you can schedule time off from work, and have your friends and family make travel plans accordingly. Now I have to explain to them when they arrive at the airport that we have to wait 3 days which coincidentally will be when most of them have been home for a day. Oh, but wait it keeps getting better. They told us "sorry" for the inconvenience and that they did "TRY" to call us at 5:30 that morning (50 minutes earlier than when we arrived) to let us know they were full. I asked to be placed on standby, or could we have a spot the next day at which case they said they were full. Hey how about some consistency and bump someone on the next day to make room for us. Maybe they didn't like my insurance provider (United Healthcare), maybe they didn't like us because our clothes, or maybe this was just an honest mistake, but they have ruined this birthing experience as now a majority of our friends and family will not get to be there for it. Thanks North Central Baptist...you know how to treat people (poorly).

I too am sorry that Texas Mommy (2/23/08) feels the way she does. Waiting for hand-outs can be depressing no doubt. After she gets a job and insurance like the majority of the country, perhaps she will feel better. As for the hospital, I give it a shining 5-star rating in every way. The staff was nothing but curtious and helpful.

This hospital's ER is EXCELLENT. The waiting room was fabulous, the staff attentive and they even have a FYI board so you can gauge about how long you are going to be there depending on what procedure you're going to have done. We were there for my very ill 7 year old, and even she was appreciative of the staff based on her experience with a different San Antonio hospital in the med center area just 2 years before. Highly recommended!

My mother was diagnosed with lung cancer at this hospital. The staff was very supportive to my family and I during this horrible time in our life. They treated my mother with respect and the nurses treated her as family. She passed away in this hospital and we are so thankful she was at a hospital with such caring people. They mourned with us and some attended the funeral. From the ems to the emergency room and up to her hospital bed, she received the best care we could have hoped for. I highly recommend this hospital.
